Class Descriptions
Pre-Ballet - Ballet is the core
of all dances and is excellent for developing perfect posture and strong, lean
muscles. The goals of Pre-Ballet are to learn: basic ballet movements and
ballet steps, musicality and working with partners in a group through imagery
and Ballet games.
Ballet - These dancers will increase primary terminology, begin to count
music, and maintain musicality as steps travel across the floor. Dancers
will also work at the barre. Dancers will begin to develop strength and
flexibility while improving performance quality. They will gain knowledge of
how to execute steps precisely.
Tap - Tap is making music with your feet. It is unsurpassed for
developing a sense of rhythm, timing, and coordination.
Jazz/Hip-Hop - All of our jazz classes cover 3 forms of Jazz; classical jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. Classical Jazz is the basis of Jazz class, derived from ballet and uses the same terminology. Lyrical is a combination of ballet & jazz, normally telling a story to the lyrics of the ballad. Hip-Hop is loose movement and descriptive to pop music. Students will develop strength, flexibility and toning.
Kindergym: - Our youngest students begin with the fundamentals of
stretching and fitness. The goals of
Kindergym are to learn: basic gymnastics mat skills, basic gymnastics skills
with equipment, terminology and working with our bodies in a group class
setting.
Gymnastics: - This
class is an extension of our Kindergym program.
This class teaches that gymnastics is a sport involving performance of
exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, coordination,
balance and grace. Class includes fun
and relevant imagery and games throughout class.
Modern - Modern dance technique is designed to develop the mind, body and spirit to be an expressive communicator through movement. Structured technical exercises that condition the body for strength, coordination and flexibility are developed. Physical activities which focus on the aspects of space, time, shape and movement dynamics are explored through individual work as well as group participation.
