The Studio Atlanta Dance - Buckhead Children Program is designed to nourish each dancer that walks through our studio doors. Our goal is to help each student grow not only as a dancer, but as a person. We will instill values, build confidence, and provide a positive environment for our dancers. Our teachers come from diverse and prestigious backgrounds. They are ready to train each child to become the best dancer they can be. Our dancers have formed a genuine love for all styles of dance.

Story Ballet - A dance class based on a different story book each week. We will read the story together and then dance and act it out. Each week we will meet different characters and share new adventures. At the end of the month, we will make a craft project based on the story we read.

Pre-Ballet - Ballet is the core of all dance and is excellent for developing perfect posture and strong, lean muscles.
2 1/2 - 3 yr - It all starts here. This is a child’s first introduction to the world of dance. The goals of Pre-Ballet are to learn: basic ballet movements and ballet steps, musicality and working with partners in a group through imagery and ballet games.
3 - 5 yr. - Continuing the skills learned in 2 1/2 - 3 yr Pre-Ballet while incorporating new ballet steps and positions through imagery and ballet games each.
5 - 6 yr. - These dancers will begin to learn primary terminology and will increase their musicality and movement across the floor.

Ballet
6 - 7 yr. - These dancers will increase primary terminology, begin to count music, and maintain musicality as steps travel across the floor.  Dancers will also begin work at the barre.
* Level I - These dancers will begin to develop strength and flexibility while improving performance quality. They will gain knowledge of how to execute beginning steps precisely.
* Level II - These dancers will have knowledge of ALL Beginner Ballet terminology while continuing to develop strength, flexibility and performance quality.  They will be introduced to more complicated combinations and begin to tell differences in timing.
* Level III - Dancers will be introduced to Intermediate steps and terminology, continuing to develop strength and flexibility as well as understanding and executing turnout. They will also be given intermediate complex combinations.

Tap - Tap is making music with your feet.  It is unsurpassed for developing a sense of rhythm, timing, and coordination.
5 - 6 yr. - This class is the dancer's first introduction to Tap.  The goals are to learn: basic tap steps, musicality, and terminology.
6 - 7 yr. - These dancers will increase tap terminology and movement focusing on rhythm and coordination as individuals and as a class.
* Level I, II, III - These dancer continue to work on rhythm, timing, and coordination while learning beginner through intermediate steps and combinations.

Jazz/Hip-Hop - All of our jazz classes cover 3 forms of Jazz; classical jazz, hip hop, and lyrical.  Classical Jazz is the basis of Jazz class, derived from ballet and uses the same terminology. Lyrical is a combination of ballet & jazz, normally telling a story to the lyrics of the ballad.  Hip-Hop is loose movement and descriptive to pop music. Students will develop strength, flexibility and toning.
* Level I - These dancers will be introduce to jazz. At this level, dancers will focus on classical jazz. Students will learn a warm-up and work on stretching and flexibility.
* Level II - At this level dancer will continue to work on stretching and flexibility. These dancers will begin to learn hip-hop style movements in addition to classical jazz.
* Level III - These dancers will begin to learn lyrical style movements in addition to classical jazz and hip-hop. Dancers will be taught intermediate complex combinations as well as focusing on terminology and flexibility.

TSAD Company
Our Performing Dance Companies  are the “Showcase” of The Studio Atlanta Dance.  The members of these companies are dancers who have been hand-picked by our Studio faculty to represent The Studio in various  performances around Atlanta.  The advantage to our performing companies is that they get an opportunity to perform more than just once a year.  Our past performances have included: our Spring Company Concert, “The Festival of Trees” at The Georgia World Congress Center, The Junior League’s “Breakfast with Santa”, “Fairy Tale Tea”, “The Festival of Life”, and several other performances throughout the year. The older dance company members have performed at the half-time show at the 1998 Orange Bowl.

The amount of class hours for the companies range from 2 hours a week for the younger companies and 4—10 hours a week for the older company members. All Dance company members are required to participate in two Weekend Choreography Workshops and a one-week Summer Workshop.

Our Company Dancers are selected by teacher recommendation only.  Outside students must audition.
To Audition,  please call Ashley at (404) 233-5931 to set up an audition time.
